Kiss My Maligned Patriotism

Standard

Everything askew around me
Pieces of abnormal life
Its pauses, holds, and indefinites
Put into pictures, letters, and stripes

You see them as your uniformed men and women
You don’t see what this back has had to bear
Support our Troops you holler
Then go home to your own, your perfect, and your fair

Polar sides is where we are
In a world of the instant and the quick
Yours is seamless and uninterrupted
While mine is analog, is abacus, is rock and pick

The Red is for the blood and tears
The Blue is loyalty unbound
The White is your silken blindfold
When our reality it does surround

So unless you’ve bared what these muscles have
Do not compare your troubles to mine
I have sacrificed for your freedom
With no return on hope, on moments, or time
