I and others take back the slut, shows over move on

Standard

There has been much discussion lately regarding “Slut Walk” and the naming of it and if it’s right or wrong or degrading or in the “spirit of feminism” yada yada yada….

I want to take you through some recent instances:

A police officer comments that if an eleven year old girl had not “dressed like that” and “been out like that” she
wouldn’t have gotten gang raped but then we have

Pretty toddler? or going to far?

a mother parading her daughter around in the “Pretty Woman Hooker Costume” for a beauty pageant and that’s okay according to mom and the pageant industry it seems.

Then there is the recent “fashion shoot” of the Glee star smiling with a black eye,
entangled in an irons chord wearing a 50’s outfit.

Seeing this photo shoot made me want to put my 1991 “photo shoot” of my bruised

every 15 minutes.....

face and body next to this offensive so called piece of art. Do you think
anyone would have gotten the picture?

There were also two ads this year that cause outcry by many; one was an ad by
an internet company based in Minneapolis with the words “Fast, Cheap and
Satisfaction” and the drawing of a hooker. This ad was on billboards around the
city and made such an up roar that the company replaced them.

What

I think the picture says enough

difference is that ad compared to this one for “loungerie” for 6 to 10 year
olds and having them posed in provocative positions and hair and make-up. Yet
the French designer sees nothing wrong.

If you say it is the “industry” to blame, I will stop you right there. Girls in the 80’s and 90’s weren’t wearing
bras and that was considered ok yet they were still being raped. Should we blame our bra burning mama’s for that?

Boys and men not being taught that a woman or a girl could dress any way, in any condition, at any time of day, anywhere, does not deserve to be raped. Who is to blame for not teaching our males to respect females, our fore mothers?

Girls and women are being shown that pretty is the only thing that matters, smart and
successful will happen but only if pretty is first. Or that you don’t have to be smart as long as you are pretty.

A new generation of women is taking the word Slut and confronting it, we are making it a word that is not used any longer just like “certain words” during civil rights times. How can this be so hard for anyone to understand? One word for me
that makes me cringe is the word Ma’am, call me Mrs. Olmon, or by my title, or by my first name. I am not that liberated that I don’t mind being called Mrs. My “co-horts in crime” where I work are called Mr. so why not me Mrs.?

We could go back and forth and back and forth on what is right and what is wrong in the fight for equal rights and the violence against women fight. Each generation has their own way of getting things done, confronting their fears, and dealing with their anger. The previous generations need to join, learn, or stay out of the way.

Because Slut Walk is coming and other amazing “take back the night” ideas like it

Yours in sluttiness
